What are carbon credits?

The ESG trend has been consolidated around the world, and one of the resolutions that go along with this bias is the carbon market, where Carbon Credits are the real currency. One credit corresponds to a ton of CO2 that is no longer emitted into the atmosphere, helping countries and companies to reduce the generation of greenhouse gases (GHG).

Companies that emit more carbon dioxide, polluting the atmosphere, can buy credits. Thus, corporate offsetting of unavoidable emissions can be done reliably and transparently.

On the other hand, those who reduce emissions, polluting less, earn credits proportionally. What’s more, they can sell them to companies that haven’t reached their goals yet.
